Annet Stirling

I studied lettering at the City and Guilds of London Art School with Berthold Wolpe and learned lettercutting from Richard Kindersley. In 1988 I formed Incisive Letterwork with Brenda Berman, focusing on large-scale architectural inscriptions and ‘word sculpture’. We worked extensively with Ian Hamilton Finlay. In my studio I make exhibition pieces alongside memorials and commercial commissions, these have included designing and carving lettering for The National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Opera House and the Festival Hall amongst others.
